About
Born and raised in Nesconset, NY, Rob Lifford grew up on classic rock and jam bands. In his early 20s, while a college student in Ithaca, NY, he heard Cornerstone performing on the radio on Bound for Glory (“North America’s longest running live folk concert broadcast”), and drove directly to the venue to see the rest of the show live. It was the ton-of-bricks moment that many bluegrass fans experience at one point or another.
Since then, he’s focused most of his musical attention on bluegrass music and its many offshoots. Based in Austin, Texas since 2001, he performs with a wide range of acts and releases recordings of jazzgrass/progressive acoustic original compositions.
